To quote my husband, "Curves are not bad".
After struggling with my size my whole life, I have mostly accepted myself, curves, fat and all. I am more than my dress size or a number on a scale!
So it's AWESOMELY REFRESHING to see a magazine spread from PLUS Model Magazine, featuring "plus size" model Katya Zharkova--wearing nothing but a gorgeous smile.
You can read the article HERE on Styleite.com (more photos, also NSFW).
Here is my favorite photo from it--and I'm not just attracted to her Louboutins ;)
I wish more magazines featured ALL sizes, ages, abilities, etc. I cannot relate to a magazine where the women look completely starved and look nothing remotely like me.
So, BRAVA to PLUS Model Magazine for pushing the boundaries on what we consider "beautiful"!
Yes! You make a brilliant point about the media featuring differing abilities, ages etc. It's like half of the world falls through some photo filtered black hole... sad :(
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that GOD FORBID the ad suggests non hetero coupling. Over here, JCPenny was getting threatened by boycotts because *gasp* they had 2 moms and 2 dads for Mother's Day/Father's day ads. But that's a whole 'nother rant.
DeleteI am tired of seeing ads of people in wheelchairs who are only elderly. How about a younger person, someone like me?
But yes I loooove this ad. I tease my husband and say that if I went to some countries, the men would be all over me and treat me like a goddess ;)
Absolutely, she is gorgeous! I love both photos. The one of her holding the much smaller woman is so powerful. I do wish mainstream magazines would do this more.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? All the photos are sooo pretty but these jumped out at me...even though I am much larger, it reminds me a little of me and my GF--she's smaller than I am.
DeleteAhhh someday, I still have hope for this world!
