Thanksgiving 2011 Look of the Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a good (safe!) Black Friday! Here's part one of my Turkey Day look, my nails will come in another post. First, the outfit I wore to my parents' for dinner:

Top by Ulla Popken

I wanted to show you my top (got it on clearance, yay!) because it was the inspiration for my makeup look. I really wanted to play off the green, teal and orange. Oh and I got lots of compliments on my hair! I had wanted to add more color after Judoman cut it, but it did not happen. But I still rocked it, and it brought a smile to my 2yo nephew's face :)

I'm going to do a mini-review of some of the products in my Products Used List, instead of a separate post. So here goes!

Hair
TRESsemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo
*I absolutely will never live without this again! Since I'm using the Manic Panic, I don't want to put alot of products that will strip the color. This is great for getting rid of bed head and putting in some curls! It acts like a mousse, but is much lighter, plus you rub it out of your hair*
Oscar Blandi Jasmine Protein Mist for Restyling Hair
*I got a generous deluxe-size version of this in the last Beauty.com designer sample bag (spend $100 get the bag full of samples--SO worth it! I meant to photograph it but forgot, but there was definitely a lot of great products, some even full sized, in there.). This is also great for bed head. I spray a bit on my hands, and scrunch it to get my curls a bit more ruly. My hair stays in place without feeling crunchy! The smell is very faint. I will buy this forever!*

Brows
Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit
*LOVE this. worth every penny. I was not blessed with perfect brows and combine my husband's woolly caterpillars, neither is my daughter. So I helped her use this on her eyebrows, then did mine and voila! I am a happy happy girl. Very easy to use and the kit will last a long time*
Urban Decay UrbanBrow Precision Tip Brow Tint--Brunette
*Just okay. My right eyebrow is the wonky one, and this fell a bit short. I think a pencil will do better than a liquid tint*
Maybelline Great Lash--Clear
*Worked perfectly. I know there are brow products out there (the Too Faced Kit has setting wax) but I've always used mascara. The clear looked great, even added a bit of shine.*

Face
Reviva Labs Rosewater Facial Spray
*Love, love, love this. You will get a LOT of use from this product. It's great for using before putting on makeup, and after cleaning off makeup, or just to freshen your face. The rose scent is not too strong. My face feels softer after using it nearly daily*
Origins Zero Oil Matte Finish
*I got this for my teen daughter (why oh why do we get teen face in our 40's???) and she liked it. I was using everything in my power to avoid the oil slick. LOVE, and a little goes a long way.*
Too Faced Primed & Poreless
*I love how this goes on and feels on my face--soft and silky. I am really pleased how this diminished my pores and was the perfect set up for my makeup*
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer--Glow
*It's always hard choosing a color online but this matched my skintone perfectly. A little goes a long way, and it didn't look unnatural under my eyes, which are always dark*
Meow Cosmetics Purrfect Puss Mineral Foundation--2 Frisky Sphinx
*Proof that buying samples makes all the difference! Again, this is so tough if you're only used to buying drugstore powders. But Meow offers a TON of colors and coverage options (Light, medium, heavy coverage). I bought the small size (Munchkin) but will buy full size next time! Did not look powdery at all on me yay!*
My Pretty Zombie Drugs Like Me Blush--PCP
*After seeing so many gorgeous swatches over at Toxid-Lotus, I knew I had to try out MPZ and I am thrilled I did! Andrea is awesomesauce (and I even got a zombie finger in my package! Now there's a spooky finger! LOL) This was the perfect shade of peach*
Fyrrinae Finishing Powder--Oil Control
*Also another first for me, the famous Fyrrinae! This powder glides on just as smooth as the TFP&P and though it is white, goes on without a trace. And I did NOT HAVE TO BLOT MY FACE ONCE. 12 hours folks. I am also in FL and if my skin hears the word makeup, turns on the oil works. HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT.*
Guerlain Les Meteorites
*I got this back in the early/mid-90's and I have a TON left. Leaves just a hint of sparkly perfumed glow. I use a touch on cheeks, neck, cleavage. If you are thinking of getting it while it's out now, do NOT balk at the price. It will last you nearly forever. Seriously. I will have to show you how full my container is after 8-10 years.*
Urban Decay All Nighter XL Makeup Setting Spray
*I think the XL is referring to the new size....I've never used a setting spray but decided to give it a try. Now, I used a LOT of pre- and post-makeup products but I'd say this worked. My makeup stayed! And I didn't look dried out. It comes out as a fine mist--you apply it in a T then X shape over your face. I may try out my Rosewater spray one time to see if there is a huge difference. But this will last me forever too lol*

(Edited to add--after looking at ALL the oil control products I used--that worked great--I think I found a solution for the Gulf Oil Spill.)

Eyes
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
*Just like my face, my eyes loooove to crease the heck out of my eyeshadow. I do see one crease in the photo but didn't notice it myself. However, it still looked pretty darn good after all day PLUS a nap (turkey tryptophan....zzzzzz).*
Sephora Smoky Cream Eyeliner--Statue Bronze (upper eyelid)
*I love cream eyeliners, but I keep looking for a brush that is just right. Plus my hands shake*
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil--Junkie (lower waterline)
*LOVE this color! Just wish I could get this in a full size!*
Tokidoki Brillante glitter Eyeliner--Liberty (lower waterline)
*New-to-me brand, love this color and pencil, will have to get more of these!!*
Fyrrinae Pixie Epoxy
*After hearing alllllllllllll the raves, I knew I had to get it! I think I overdid it thought (and really I didn't use THAT much) since my eyeshadow would. not. blend, even with some oomph. Ah well, live and learn--but it sure did keep the glitter in my shadows from falling out!! Worth ALL the raves and it will last you a long time!*
Fyrrinae Eyeshadow--Dragon's Wing (inner lid)
*MAGIC. My only wish is that there were sifters on the shadows, but you do get more product. It's my shaky hands I worry about!*
Meow Cosmetics Eyeshadow--Pestilence (from the 4 Horsemen Collection)(outer lid)
*Darker than I wanted, but love it anyway....and the name HEE*
Aromaleigh Eyeshadow (v.1)--Incendio (from the Spells collection) (crease)
*NOW I know why I ordered an orangy eyeshadow! And I thought it was just because I was digging the Harry Potter names ;)*
My Pretty Zombie Loose Eyeshadow--Unicorn Pee (brow)
*As a polish lover how could I NOT get this?? SO. VERY. PRETTY. But again, wishing for sifter, but love the jars, a bit larger than most.*
Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Flared--Very Black
*I think I have decided that most mascaras--no matter what they promise--are just not going to do all that much for my eyelashes. I still have some other brands to try in my stash but then I will compare that to the false lashes I have yet to try*

Lips
Too Faced Lip Insurance
*My first time trying this--great feel to it. I did not wear lipstick however so I need to give this another go to determine how well it works*
NARS Lipgloss--Super Orgasm
*feels good, hint of color and sparkle*
Urban Decay Stardust Lip Gloss--Andromeda
*added just a dab of this in the center of my lower lip...WOW such a gorgeous color and I love the mint!*

Perfume
MOR Cosmetics Eau de Parfum--Marshmallow
*This is, HANDS DOWN, my favorite scent EVER. It is described as "Sugar dipped Rose Petals infused with Pink Musk and Cotton Candy" Perfect description! It is sweet without smelling too much so--fun, flirty but also scent for a woman ;) I own this scent in about every product that MOR makes, they are a superb company with FABULOUS customer service! The scent lasts all day*

Tools
Urban Decay Revolution Eyelash Curler
*My first ever, no pinching! yay!*

Brushes by:
The Body Shop
Kat von D
Sephora
EcoTools
*I am collecting brushes like black clothes attract cat hair! I am intrigued by different sizes, shapes, and so far, I think I have enough. Maybe.*

So there you have it, The Thanksgiving 2011 Look of the Day, with more products than there were probably balloon floats in the Macy's Parade! Stay tuned for part 2, my Manicure (if I get it photographed before it chips out on me.)

Stay Pretty!
