SlayerStyle: Ombre Jeans

I was SO thrilled when I saw that Nubar was coming out with a Jean collection, verrrrry similar to the so-out-of-my-price-range Chanel Les Jeans collection. The day they came out, I ordered a set. Judging by the look of comparison swatches online, I'm happy to have polishes that are pretty close dupes.

(L-R) Faded Jeans, Boyfriend Jeans, Dark wash Jeans

I decided I wanted to wear all three, so I did a combo ombre/gradient/sponging on each nail. This was my first time doing this, and I'm pretty happy how it turned out!

I started out with Dark Wash, then sponged a layer of Boyfriend, and finally Faded. I then topped it off with a coat of Butter London Matte topcoat--jeans aren't shiny!

I was in a hurry that day so 2 of my nails got messed up pretty badly. Instead of taking off the polish on those 2 and starting all over, I just patched my jeans ;)

For the patch job, I just did some quick, light and random brush strokes instead of using a sponge and it came out pretty much the same. The only thing, the Boyfriend Jean doesn't show up as well....I think next time I may layer Faded between the two darker shades, like worn-out knees ;)

I really like this mani, you can't really "mess up" on it. And it's got a kindof laid-back, grunge feel to it.

I love Nubar's polish, the brush, the whole 9 yards....and I love their "single color" collections (Chocolate Truffles, Risque Reds, etc). A great way to load up on colors if you don't already have a lot of these in your collection. I think I will probably wind up wearing these three together for manicures in the future.

Do you have either the Chanel or the Nubar--or both?

  2. You will LOOOOOOOVE Nubar. The polishes are really awesomesauce! I get some on ebay and some with Nubar (their shipping is pretty high tho).

I've jazzed it up a little maybe? Trying to get a bit more organized in general on all my blogs.

SO GLAD you visited and commented, it's an honor :)

  4. Haha! Bell bottom nails! Love it!

I was just a wee tot in the 70's. Sigh. My daughter loves her "boot cut" jeans ;)

    Thanks so much Theresa!! xo

  6. Thanks Sammy <3 Yeah I'm really happy--I got a bunch of "high end" nail growth/strengtheners and they WORK, so worth every penny ;) Rotating them seems to work better too instead of just using one all the time. My nails are getting their vitamins :D
